           The Rev. Dr. L. James (Jim) Bankston is the Senior Pastor of St. Paul’s UMC in Houston, TX.

           A bullet point list of his professional ministry and areas of service would impress even the ‘unimpressable’ but a list could never capture the heart of Jim Bankston nor the depth of his far-reaching service.

           His thirty-six plus years of dedication to the United Methodist Church are filled with testaments to his deep love of God and all of God's good creation, as well as his remarkable pastoral and leadership abilities.

           Dr. Bankston not only has served as delegate to six Jurisdictional Conferences, three General Conferences, and two World Methodist Conferences, but has worked to help break the silence and see the Texas Annual Conference exhibit radical hospitality and Christ-like acceptance of everyone in God’s family tree.
